Gridio is a cleantech startup focused on accelerating the transition to green energy. While the cleanest form of energy is no energy, for the time being we will have to better manage what we do use. Gridio is developing the smartest smart charging platform for electric vehicles. It tracks the energy market in real time making sure to use electricity when the prices are lowest.

Time is a central theme in Gridio’s business.

The brand design illustrates a better future, where all energy is sustainable. The core business is about shifting power usage to opportune times and the user experience for Gridio customers is designed to be seamless, so they can ignore the “tech” and fully enjoy their lives – every moment of it.

The graphic design illustrates passage of time, in nature, is most apparent in the skies. The change of color helps navigate in time as the day-night cycle follows its perpetual pattern. The identity takes snapshots of the best and the most meaningful moments – from sunrise to sunset. The smooth gradients in these snapshots are the basis for Gridio’s look and feel.

The energy market is a restless beast. Hourly price fluctuations can be volatile. This can be caused by natural energy consumption patterns, economic conflicts, weather, rapidly depleting non-renewable resources etc. However, for the Gridio users, this is all presented in a calming and emotive design, that serve as elegant details in the identity, restating the value proposition in a visual way.

Consistency is key

Organisational growth comes with its growing pains. One of the symptoms is the emergence of exceptions that end up damaging the brand. We conducted participatory observations with Helmes employees to pinpoint their needs and pain points when working with branded materials. This allowed us to create rules and materials that are robust enough to withstand rapid growth.

How can you help people that don’t save money to realise, that they can save?

Especially in this day and age, where it is easy to whip out a card or code and it’s already paid for? Together with SEBs Baltic product development team, we decided to prove that anyone can save some money. We did this by transferring an old way of saving to the digital age. The result was the digital coin jar.

The concept is really quite simple:
– with cash you always end up with a bunch of coins in your pocket. People collect these coins in a jar at home;
– these coins accumulate and actually are a really easy way of saving some money.

Today, with SEBs digital coin jar, everyone can save a little money. Just like they use to do with coins.

Brand Manual helped to design and brand a service that serves the interests of two types of people – those who need to borrow money and those who want to lend it.

Peer-to-peer loans are growing in popularity, and Moneyzen is a marketplace where the two interested parties can meet. The service establishes a secure framework allowing clients to borrow money from different investors at once, under different terms and for different periods. Moneyzen makes investing and borrowing money much faster, easier and often cheaper than bank loans. Zen!

Rebranding ParkNOW! to MobileNOW!

MobileNOW! provides a cloud-based digital payment and billing platform for parking, electric vehicle charging, bike parking and other mobility services. It allows parking operators to increase service quality while cutting costs and making drivers happy customers.

Formely known as ParkNOW!, MobileNOW! was approached by BMW in 2013 to acquire their brand. The deal allows for quicker growth in the core US market, but consequently required a thorough redesign of the already established ParkNOW! brand.

The MobileNOW! brand retains all the strengths of the initial ParkNOW! identity, including the signature color scheme of red, white and blue. The design challenge was to change the name of the brand, update the graphics, but do so in a manner that most customers wouldn’t notice that anything had changed at all.
